Feel Guilty.

I. Had. The. Bludgiest. Day. Ever.

Argh!!!! I feel so bad!!! Seriously, when I get the results back I'm going to cry and cry and feel terrible that I wasted so much time. Why did I do it?!?! I don't know!!! I'm so scared I'm going to let my whole family down and just do awfully. And not only that, let myself down. I don't want a shit UAI - as much as I know it's "just a number", I feel it says something about me. My intelligence, my work ethic, my general ability...you know, the works. And I don't feel that I'm exaggerating, either.

*cries*

Anyway...what DID I do? Oh yeah, that's right, I went on MuggleNet and downloaded the new GoF clips (actually, the one with Rita is bloody hilarious, as is the "Finding Dates" clip). Um...and workwise? Essays for stensh, and a bit of skimming over for history. Right. Yeah, that's going to get me through my moern history HSC. Uh huh. I'm going to go back to work before I feel even more guilty.

Bye all!

An excellent list.

MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT FOOD AND DIETS

Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?
A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't
waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your
heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the
life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay
and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than
an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain?
Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable).
And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of
vegetable products.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine,
that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more
of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to
one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular
exercise program?

A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No
Pain...Good!

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!!. Foods are fried these days in vegetable
oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be
bad for you?

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around
the middle?

A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You
should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: Are you crazy? HELLO ...... Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!!
It's the best feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.

Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!

Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had
about food and diets. YEAR 12 GIRLS....keep this in mind post-HSC. Like me!!

My life since...well, yesterday.

Nothing toooo drastic has happened since yesterday. Well, actually, it was my sister's birthday yesterday (13) and she celebrated it with style - acting like the moodiest, sulkiest, angstiest teenager that ever threw a tantrum about the world not understanding. Pretty funny I guess. Although a right pain in the derriere for everyone else in the house. That's the weird thing about Jess, actually - she's hyperactive and weird but can be the moodiest and most depressed person ever. Very volatile.

So yeah, apart from Jessica's teenage woes, I have pretty much been doing Browning work (because I don't want to completely die on Monday) and some chem. I quite like chem (except for monitoring and management - perhaps THE most boring module, and also the one we didn't do properly, I feel) because it's so straightforward! I can actually rote learn, thank the LORD!!!

Ooh, I went into school today (it's pretty weird actually, I now feel like I don't belong there) and a random girl told me I looked really pretty!!!! Yay!!!! Things like that make Jennifer feel very happy!!!!! Hahaha...yeah, I know I'm lame. Don't bother telling me that again.

Well I'm going to finish stensh notes (PLC-ism for anyone curious) and then probably do a chem paper. Yes, I'm still avoiding history as much as is humanly possible. Haha. See you all!!

Phew!

So that's it! Maths. Is. Over.

Obviously, it wasn't quite that fantastic. Like, the first part was pretty simple and lulled me into a false sense of security, but I ended up leaving 8 marks...aaarggh!!!! Question 7B: fuck you. No seriously, FUCK YOU. You made absolutely no sense and confused the hell out of me. Question 6B made a valiant attempt as well, and partially succeeded, but I think question 7 screwed me over like none other. Since I was in a rather fragile emotional state, that probably didn't help either.

I suppose that's how it's meant to be. Ah well. At least 3u Maths was immeasurably better than English. Which really isn't saying much for English if you think about it.

I spent more time tanning outside...haha, the HSC will contribute to my lovely golden brown tan as much as my expanding waistline. Anyway I'm going to go and do some Browning (yay, poetry!!) because Ms Coleman reckons they might ask for 3 prescribed texts. If they fucking dare to do that...(I realise that they are fully within their rights to do so but meh)...I will slaughter them!!!!! As if 3 speeches wasn't bad enough!!!! *fumes*

So yes...I shall now trot off to read my poems and do some analysis about the 19th century issues.

I damn projectiles to burn in hell for eternity...

And while I'm at it, how about I send permutations/combinations and equating frigging coefficients to go and join it!!! GAH!!! Maths is great a lot of the time, but is also frustrating on occasion. Especially the night before exams...and you know, the bigger the exam, the worse the feeling usually is.

And after tomorrow, I'm going to have to study my arse off for 3u Eng, Chem and BLOODY MODERN!!!!! Hmph. I don't want to touch modern with a ten foot pole right now, but I'm going to have to rather soon.

What happened today...

Oh, my stupid little sister got her exam results back...I'm going to have to kill her sometime because she's going to beat the crap out of me in absolutely everything. Get this - MY sister topped the year in D&T. Ha! Obviously failure at D&T is not a genetic trait. Additionally she got 98 in English...just one off my highest ever mark!! She better not ever get 99 in English or I really will strangle her.

Hmm...wasted the day sleeping and sneaking in more bits of pointless books. Today's pointless book was "Hating Alison Ashley." That book makes me laugh so hard!!!! Hahahahaha if you haven't read it, go and read it NOW!!! I realise it is juvenile, but hey, what's the fun in life if we don't enjoy the little things?

Haha, and i read on the SMH that the director for "Amelie" is going to make "Life of Pi". Now I realise I promised to forget about journeys, but isn't it coincidental that Jeunet is making a film of a book that has a lot to do with journeys of the imagination? It is obviously due to his wonderful escapist element as shown through his saturated shots, rapid sequences and...

*coughs*

Right, well, I'm going to do maths now. Maths, I assure you!!

Another boring day passes...

In which Jennifer finds new and creative ways to waste time (such as tanning her legs from different angles in the backyard, or reading poetry...yes, POETRY, skimming through the NIDA booklet that was kindly sent out today, or just eating. A lot.)

Oh, and I did some maths trials...for some reason, they're not that bad, except for the bloody Sydney Boys' trials!!!! What is with them!?!? I swear that their trials are harder than the Catholic ones, and maybe even the Ruse ones. So yeah, it was really easy to lose attention after that one. Mind you, maths is pretty good (except projectiles..my Waterloo) in comparison with other disasters like Modern History (I'm going to kill Ms Osborn after the HSC...anyone up for joining me?) so I'm sticking at it for the time being. Weird, because I always used to like artsy subjects but when it comes to it, I'm better at sciency/maths ones.

Speaking of the arts, in my reading of poetry today I found a great poem that I should have used for 3u Eng. It's so infuriating how that happens. It was a really lovely Shelley poem, too. And I'm liking Tennyson as well. See - this is what the HSC does - it helps nurture my learning in so many diverse fields!!! (As in, ones NOT connected to study).

What else...OH. I read the latest Series of Unfortunate Events book - "The Penultimate Peril." Can I just say, that was the weirdest book I've read in a while. Especially for THAT series. I mean, it was actually like a real book rather than a caricature of a book. It started out comically "black and white" and now it's so...so GREY...that it's very strange. The moral ambiguity of the ending is quite unexpected, and rather unsettling. I mean, Harry Potter (yes, seems like I can't post an entry without mentioning it once) is written in a much more realistic way, but is so much more black and white than Unfortunate Events.

So yes, with that in mind, I shall take myself off to do the 2003 Catholic Trial, or perhaps a Ruse paper. See you!!

Maths is 2/3 DONE!!!

Well, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration seeing that 3u maths is probably twice the amount of work of 2u. But still!! How exciting. Plus - it was a rather nice exam. Apart from some of the calculus questions (I HATE practical applications), most of the paper was pretty good. Easier than trials, definitely, with nice series questions and good, clear questions. That makes one exam that Jen is happy with so far. Yay!! The cynical side of me can see this coming back and biting me on the bum once the results come out and I go into a catatonic state or perhaps just throw myself off a very high building, but I'm trying to ignore that for the time being. Optimism is a nice feeling, even if it is miguided.

What's new...

Haha...there's a new interview with the HP actors. Go Emma Watson, she at least wants Ron and Hermione to hook up!! That couple cracks me up. Yeah, I'm way too obsessed with this movie for my own good. I know that. You don't have to tell me. =P

OMFG just checked out smh...apparently some designer thinks girls should walk around wearing full handlebar moustaches. When the hell did that happen?!?!? Right, well...I think now is the time for me to go and do some 3u papers. Oh joy.

Hope you're all having fun.

Yawn.

A whole day of maths papers. Maths paper after maths paper after maths paper. In between differentiating functions, trying to find areas and proving triangles are congruent, I have managed to sneak in little procrastinating episodes that mainly consist of surfing the net. And sunbaking.

Bad news: Steve Kloves is going to direct Half Blood Prince. That just makes me SO MAD!!!! In case I haven't mentioned this before, I personally believe Steve Kloves is single-handedly responsible for the assassination of Ron's character from loyal, brave and hilarious friend to gawky, idiotic and cowardly sidekick. Example: Shrieking Shack scene (one of my favourites in the entire series) where HERMIONE says RON'S line - "You'll have to kill us first!" AAARRGGH!!!! Yes, I'm a huge Ron fan - and proud of it!!! (I realise that many of you may not have realised the extent of my Harry Potter nerdiness. Well, now you do...lol).

Oh, and I managed to watch the Tom Cruise on Oprah debacle. (Haha..ok, maybe I procrastinate a bit more than I admit to doing). Can I just say that that was about the most embarrassing thing I've ever seen?? Aaah...it wasn't even really funny, it was just completely cringeworthy.

Anyway I should probably, you know, go back to a bit of work. Seeing as I am in the middle of the HSC and all.

new complaint (and some gushing)

apples (the computer, not the fruit) can be so tedious sometimes.................

aargh i can't post photos on this blog for the simple reason that i don't have the right technology. grrrr.

on a happier note, however, i have just seen the new narnia trailer (on www.narniaweb.com for anyone else interested). WHEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! that looks like SO much fun. like, about as much fun as GoF...*spontaneously combusts with excitement*. yes, i know i should really get a life. but really...HP and Narnia...just add in LotR and a bit of SW and that's my main entertainment world!!! (see how much of an internet nerd i am? i even use the abbreviations). speaking of HP, Mugglenet has so many exciting photos of the upcoming movie. with the exception of the Harry/Hermione photos (they make me furious...why oh why flog an absolutely dead and non-existent horse?!?!) they are all brilliant.

hmm...wait...year 12 people may not wish to see the narnia trailer..it uses the evil J-word. don't say i didn't warn you.

anyway yes, i'm off to bed.

ENGLISH SUCKS.

So. 1/3 of the way through the HSC...and I am updating a stupid blog.

The reason is very simple - i wish to avoid maths. Well, I suggest you don't read anymore unless you would like to read me bitch and moan about the HSC thus far.

English is a completely ridiculous subject. I mean, come on, we can do as much work as we like and be confronted with idiotic questions like that journeys one...and go shit!!! What was with that first person crap!? Was the Board of Studies on something stupid? Additionally...THREE SPEECHES?!?!?! WTF!!! And i SWEAR that powerplay question was written specifically to disadvantage powerplay students...because it fits truth and history SO MUCH BETTER. So yeah...that's just great. You know, i wrote 20 practice essays all up for this paper...20 practice essays!!!! And I can just SEE it going for absolutely nothing. I mean, yes, I'm glad it's over, but it's actually so terrible I wouldn't mind redoing those papers. And I mean that.

Hmm..and maths is also a bit of a pain (the 2004 HSC 3u is terrible, especially the last bit of question 7 and the stupid circle geometry bit)...but it is still far more beautiful and logical than english. Not that that's hard or anything. History is an "i-want-to-kill-you" subject...partially because it is so freaking big, partially because we need to teach ourselves half the syllabus due to a teacher who is the very definition of incompetent and partially because i can see myself screwing it up bigtime (again).

November the third, you cannot come soon enough....
